There are thousands of dishes prepared with cod, but there is no doubt that one of our favorites is the cod cake. This salty cake is a delight and can be taken for lunch or dinner, since it is a digestive and healthy fish. Cod cake is one of the most popular dishes of Portuguese cuisine, especially in Lisbon. However, there are currently many versions that exist of this traditional recipe, so we can find it with different ingredients. Ingredients to make cod cod:
1. Heat about three fingers of water in a pot, add the pieces of cod with the skin down and a bay leaf. Let the fish cook for 10 minutes without covering the pot completely. Meanwhile, two potatoes with skin cook in the microwave. To do this, introduce them into a bag without closing (microwave suitable) and cook for 12 minutes.
Trick: If the potatoes are small you should reduce time. Instead of a bag you can use film paper.
2. finely pile onion, pepper, tomato and garlic. Then, sauté the onion and pepper for 3 minutes and then add the garlic, tomato and prawns and let everything cook for 4 more minutes. If the prawns are great chop them.
3. carefully remove the skin of the cod and crumble it to add it to the sauce, take a few laps and let it cook for a couple of minutes. With this, it will be enough to integrate the flavors of the cod cake, then turn off the fire and reserve the sauce.
4. Deposit the cooked potatoes and peeled in a casserole and crush them until they make them puree. You can use some utensil to make the potatoes, as long as they are totally crushed.
5. Apart, beat three eggs with a pinch of salt and reserve them for the end.
Trick: Preheat the oven at 200ºG up and down.
6. Heat two glasses of milk for 2 minutes in the microwave and stick them on crushed potatoes, mix until you get a thin paste and heat it over medium heat while stirring, its texture must be very thick to be able to form the cod cod .
7. Add the spices to the potato puree and a salt pinch, remove so that they are integrated while the puree is cooked 3 more minutes. Then, withdraw and reserve. Preheat the oven to 200 ºC.
8. In an oven suitable container, put a layer of potato puree and flattened to continue with the cod cake filling. Thus, it distributes the reserved sauce and place another layer of puree. Flait each layer so that the cake is uniform.
9. Pour the beaten egg on the cod cod and, if you wish, you can add grated cheese on top. Bake the cod cake for 40 minutes at 180 ºC.
10. We decided to leave it only with the beaten egg, but with the gratin cheese it is also delicious. When ready, let it be a bit.
11. When it is already tempered, you can serve your recipe of cod cod accompanied by bread donuts and a good American colm salad.
