Bread toasts constitute one of the most traditional sweets of the Lent and Holy Week. In addition, they are a perfect option to take advantage of those left over breads and avoid discarding them. Doing them is very easy, follow the step by step and prepare with homemade torrija recipes.

Ingredients to make homemade bread torrijas:
1. We take a saucepan with sufficient capacity and put the milk to heat. We add the cinnamon branch and lemon skin to aromatize it. When the boiling point reaches, we remove it from the heat and add the sugar, stir well to dissolve it. Let cool and remove cinnamon and lemon.
2. We cut the bread the slices of about 2 cm thick or so. Remember that bread must be hard to get rid of it soak in milk.
3. We place the slices on a fountain and bathe them with milk, but without spending it all. We turn them around so that they are permeated on both sides. We do not leave them much time to prevent them from softening excessively.
4. We take a pan and put abundant oil to heat. Meanwhile, beat the egg and pass each of the slices through the beaten egg. When the oil is hot, we fry the bread torrijas on both sides.
5. Once fried, we place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil and pass them to a source. We pour the remaining temperate milk and sprinkle sugar above each torrija. We let them stand so that they are permeated from aromatized milk and we can eat them.
