Ingredients to make candy stuffed with caramel and nuts:
1. To make this delicious caramel cake and nuts we will begin by preparing the dough. To do this, we will make two exactly the same cakes, so one will serve as a base and the other cover. In this way, divide the ingredients of the dough into two (for example: three eggs for the first sponge cake and the other three for the second). Done this, we take the ingredients to start preparing the first sponge cake and beat the butter with the sugar, preferably using an electric blender.
2. Then, add the eggs one by one and continue beating until they are completely integrated. It is always advisable not to add the next egg until the previous one is not incorporated into the dough.
3. Finally, we add the previously sifted flour and alternate it with milk. We add the baking powder and the essence of caramel to enhance the flavor. We mix well.
Trick: If you have no essence of caramel you can use vanilla essence.
4. We pour the dough into a previously greased and floured round mold. We preheat the oven to 180ºC and, when hot, bake the cake for 20-25 minutes, or until when you puncture it with a stick it comes out completely ready. When ready, we remove it from the oven, let it cool, unmold and repeat the previous steps to prepare the second cake.
5. While the cakes are baked, we prepare the toffee and nuts filling. To do so, we heat the sugar over medium heat, until it melts and stirring occasionally so that it does not burn.
6. When we have obtained a thick syrup, we lower the fire, add the cream of milk little by little and stir constantly. Once we have a homogeneous mixture, add the butter, raise the heat and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring all the time.
